Synopsis of Alleged Botched Circumcision

Physician performed a circumcision that allegedly resulted in a serious complication requiring additional medical attention of a urologist.

Physician's circumcision was criticized by an "expert" who examined the baby and discharged that child immediately after his examination, in spite of alleged excessive bleeding.

The "expert," Dr. Irani, conceded at the hearing that he had never performed a circumcision in his life! His criticism, that the physician removed too much skin was contradicted the next morning, by the examination fo a urologist with considerable experience, Dr. Shapiro, who found the physician left too much skin!

This exculpatory evidence was withheld from accused physician and the Medical Hearing committee. Upon discovery of Dr. Shapiro's medical records of that baby, the accused physician submitted the concealed evidence to the hearing officer, Daniel Willick, Esq., in support of his motion to dismiss the "botched circumcision" charge. However, Mr. Willick denied that motion without consulting with or forwarding that information to the members of the Medical Hearing Committee. Hearing officer Willick sustained the objections of Tenet's attorneys (AR 5251-5252; 5480-5482)
